This program will prepare individuals to work in the construction industry in carpentry in west Michigan. It is divided into two parts to ensure adequate time for participants to gain the necessary skills. Participants will have the ability to earn a west Michigan Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)/GRCC Certificate, and program completion modules from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).
This program was created with teams of employer members of Associated Builders and Contractors and is both classroom and active lab learning. Participants must have successfully passed the Construction Core certification program or one of the GRCC Job Training Programs to participate.
For the 2014-15 session we will allow employer opt-out of core certification for individuals working for them who that have appropriate work experience as determined by ABC's Education Director.

Cold formed steel framing. Including: exterior, interior, rated walls, shaft walls, bulkheads.
Doors and hardware
Participants should have a National Career Readiness Certificate of Silver or higher for optimal success in this program.
WorkKeys Math assessment should be at a Level 4 or higher.
