Description:
The purpose of this workshop is to learn the basic fundamental principles of writing effective internal and external e-mails. Participants will learn techniques to positively and appropriately respond to e-mail.
Topics will include:
- E-mail structure and etiquette
- Crafting an effective message
- Proofreading e-mail messages and knowing when to enlist a secondary proofreader
- Developing responses that fully answer questions
- When to stop using e-mail and pick up the phone
- Appropriate use of the To, CC, and BC function
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the workshop, the participants will be able to:
- Explore the differences between one-way and two-way communication
- Identify and describe the three elements of communication
- Recognize the components of effective written communication
- Define the elements of effective e-mail
- Determine when to break the e-mail chain in order to prevent further miscommunication
- Utilize effective grammar
