  • Individuals can earn the NCRC by taking three WorkKeys® assessments:

  • WorkKeys assessments measure “real world” skills that employers believe are critical to job success. Test questions are based on situations in the everyday work world. Your Scores will determine what level of certificate you are eligible to earn.

The following are brief descriptions of each of the three WorkKeys Assessments:

    Applied Math

This assessment measures the skill people use when they apply mathematical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving techniques to work-related problems. The test questions require the examinee to set up and solve the types of problems and do the types of calculations that actually occur in the workplace. This test is designed to be taken with a calculator. A formula sheet that includes all formulas required for the assessment is provided. While individuals may use calculators and conversion tables to help with the problems, they still need to use math skills to think them through.

This assessment contains 34 questions and will be a computer based and timed assessment. You will have 55 minutes to complete the Applied Mathematics assessment.

    Graphic Literacy

The WorkKeys Graphic Literacy test measures the skill people use when they read and comprehend graphical materials to solve work-related problems. Examinees are asked to find information in a graphic or insert information into a graphic. They also must compare, summarize, and analyze information found in related graphics.

This assessment contains 38 questions and will be a computer based and timed assessment. You will have 55 minutes to complete the Graphic Literacy assessment.

    Workplace Documents

The WorkKeys Workplace Documents test measures the skill people use when they read real workplace documents and use that information to make job-related decisions to solve problems. The documents include messages, emails, letters, directions, signs, bulletins, policies, websites, contracts, and regulations.

This assessment contains 35 questions and will be a computer based and timed assessment. You will have 55 minutes to complete the Reading for Information assessment.
