This training is especially valuable for small and mid-size growers working in sustainable agriculture in the state of Michigan.
During the classroom portion of the training you will learn the practices that will reduce the risk of your product becoming contaminated. Topics covered include: Farm Review, Field Harvest and Packing, House Packing Facility, Produce Storage, Traceability.
Participants will complete a self-audit utilizing workbooks received during the GAP training class. This process will allow you to scrutinize your operation step-by-step to identify possible deficiencies in your production practices. Next you will make the necessary adjustments to ensure GAPs are being followed. By using the self-audit materials you will have a record of the steps taken that allow you to address future concerns.
GRCC will help to prepare you for third party audit certification. One of the takeaways from this training is that you will develop yor own certification manual with expert help.
